Jalon (Xalo in Valencian)
In the heart of the Jalon Valley lies the city of Jalon, the capital of the valley. During an Arab period of 500 years, Jalon had two castles and the houses were all of Moorish design. Much of this remains today in Jalon and typical Moorish houses can be found in the narrow streets. The Christian church (Santa Maria) in Jalon has a considerable size and a neo-classical style. The blue dome dominates the skyline. The Tuesday market is held here on the square, around the fountain.
The Jalon River runs through the heart of Jalon and is crossed by two city bridges. The tourist office is located along the river while you enter Jalon.
