The San Javier airport will close and return to military use and the Corvera airport will replace the San Javier airport as the main airport for the region of Murcia. As such the new airport will be known as the Aeropuerto Internacional Region de Murcia, or the Region of Murcia International Airport.<\/p>\n<p>As of December 2018 there are a number of flight routes and airlines that have already announced plans to fly in and out of <strong>Corvera airport<\/strong>. As the airport will replace San Javier airport and will also be run by AENA, it is largely expected to cover most, if not all of the existing routes dealt with at San Javier, but with the additional scope to handle many more routes too.<\/p>\n<p>In the second half of 2019 the number of flights and destinations will further increase.<\/p>\n<h4>From January 2019<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>EasyJet \u2013 London Gatwick, Southend, Bristol<\/li>\n<li>Ryanair \u2013 London Stansted, London Luton, Manchester, East Midlands, Birmingham, Leeds Bradford, Dublin<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>From March\/April 2019<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>Jet2 \u2013 Leeds Bradford (March), Manchester (April)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>From April 2019<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>Ryanair \u2013 Glasgow Prestwick, Bournemouth<\/li>\n<li>Norwegian Air \u2013 Oslo, Stavanger, Bergen, Trondheim<\/li>\n<li>Tui \u2013 Antwerp, Charleroi<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>From May 2019<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>Volotea \u2013 Asturias<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>To date, four concessions have been negotiated for food and beverages, including a Costa Coffee caf\u00e9, a Subway sandwich shop, a Semba restaurant, and a WHSmith outlet offering a selection of books, magazines, and light snacks.<\/p>\n<p>The new airport provides a genuine alternative to Alicante-Elche International airport, especially for travel destinations in\u00a0Spain\u00a0south of the city of Torrevieja.
